Smart
Metering
INTRODUCTION
A clever meter is an electronic device that information
consumption of power, gasoline or water and communicates that records for
tracking and billing. Smart meters ship meter readings to the software employer
robotically. They also include in-home presentations, which give users
actual-time comments on their power or water usage besides what it is estimated.
The EU Directives about common rules for the internal
marketplace for strength and gas and the EU Directive on electricity
performance require the Member States to make certain the implementation of
'shrewd metering structures' that shall assist the lively participation of
clients within the electricity marketplace. The European Command and EFTA
mandated CEN, CENELEC and ETSI (Mandate M/441) in 2009 to expand an open
structure for utility meters involving conversation protocols enabling
interoperability (smart metering).
Privacy and Security approach – an element I
The report describes an approach to define privateness and
protection requirements for Smart Metering and the reputation of labour done by
way of CEN, CENELEC and ETSI on the incorporation of protection mechanisms to
the requirements
Privacy and Security method – part II
The document describes a repository of necessities
applicable in special Member States and compares tactics on security
certification schemes for Smart Metering.
Privacy and Security approach – part III
The 1/3 file accommodates a description of a repository of
security threats, pointers regarding security certification and a replace of
the repute of labour achieved by CEN, CENELEC and ETSI.
Privacy and Security technique – component IV
CG-SM advanced a Smart Meter Protection Shape. This
Protection Profile resolve is transferred to CEN/CLC JTC thirteen with the
settlement that, if an upgrade is achieved, then CEN/CLC JTC thirteen will
cooperate with TC CYBER, the usage of the mode four cooperation procedure, to
problematic such update.
The institution (now referred to as the CEN/CENELEC/ETSI CG
on Smart Meters (CG-SM)) maintains to give entry to the development and
protection of latest and present standards for strengthening metering infrastructures
in the guide of the European roll-out of clever meters.
OUR ROLE & ACTIVITIES
CG-SM lead and other ETSI Groups worried in Keen Metering
In the beginning, (TC SmartM2M) ETSI Smart
Machine-to-Machine communications Technical Committee has been the lead (TB) Technical
Body for the coordination of ETSI's responses to the EC standardization request
on Smart Metering (M/441). This lead position has been exceeded over to
Technical Committee for Access, Terminals, Transmission and Multiplexing (ATTM)
this is now the principle ETSI access point of ETSI participation in
CEN/CENELEC/ETSI Smart Metering Coordination Group (CG-SM) with different ETSI
TBs that indicated their hobby to participate in
The Co-ordination Collection on Keen Meters (CG-SM) works
carefully with Smart Energy Grids Coordination Group - CG-SEG.
Smart Metering and SAREF
Our Smart Machine-to-Machine infrastructures Technical
Committee (TC SmartM2M) actively helps the oneM2M international initiative,
mainly with regards to European Commission (EC) pushed sports, bridging the
EC’s desires inside the M2M/IoT area and the technical paintings in oneM2M and
different ETSI activities.
TC SmartM2M attention is on a utility-unbiased ‘horizontal’
service platform with a structure able to assist a very wide range of offerings
along with Smart Metering, Smart Grids, eHealth, Smart Cities, patron packages,
vehicle automation and Smart Applications (SAREF).
Initially, Smart Appliances had been special on request of EC
DG Connect. The Smart Appliances specs have been based totally at the oneM2M
communication framework (TS 103 267) complemented with Smart Appliance
REFerence (this is now Smart Applications REFerence, SAREF V3 TS 103 264)
ontology. SAREF work has donated to the foundations of the bottom ontology of
oneM2M Release 2.
TC SmartM2M advanced "SAREF ontology and oneM2M Mapping
standards" and Smart Appliance testing standards. For SAREF extension
investigation in the energy area (TS 103 410-1), direct inputs from EEBus and
Energy@home had been blanketed in TC SmartM2M tendencies wherein Energy,
Environment and Building sectors had been a part of the primary SAREF normative
work. Then more SAREF extensions have been developed for Smart City, Industry
and Manufacturing, Smart Agri-Food, Automotive, eHealth and Ageing-Well
Wearables and Smart Water. SAREF for Smart Lift is under creation.
