HP announced its collaboration with Tile in January, but now the tracking technology is making its way to consumer notebooks.
Of all the things you can lose, your
laptop is surely among the ones that would cause you the most stress. It
may be the device you have used in recent months to keep in touch with your
friends, or even the one you use to work from home. And what about all
those files that have not done backup .
Despite its size,
it's easy to lose sight of a laptop. But luckily there are companies like
Tile that specialize in tracking devices that allow you to easily find all your
possessions via Bluetooth, which sends its location directly into your app.
At CES 2020, HP
unveiled its collaboration with Tile to integrate its technology directly into
a laptop for the first time. The first of these devices was presented
then: the Elite Dragonfly G2, a 2-in-1 for business with a rather high price.
Although the idea
of incorporating tracking technology within a device makes a lot of sense,
this price makes it out of reach for most. Now, some ranges of HP consumer
notebooks will be integrated into Tile.
Along with the new 11th generation
Intel processors, the entire EliteBook 800 G8 series has been
updated to support this technology. This includes the models 830, 840, 850
and the x360 convertible, with more affordable prices for their launch in January.
You will also find
the Tile technology incorporated in the 14 ”and 15” models of the ZBook Firefly
G8, which have just been announced and should arrive before the end of the year
and that you can buy through the HP online store .
The diversity of
these six devices should mean that there is a built-in Tile option for
everyone. It is important to remember that the app can be used to find
laptops even if their screen is off or if the device is sleeping or
hibernating.
This seems to be
just the beginning for laptops with a built-in Tile. Companies such as
Skullcandy, Bose, and Herschel already have collaborations with Tile, and last
May it was announced that all Intel-powered notebooks would support this
feature .
Will the
integration with Tile make it possible for the new HP devices to be included
among the best notebooks of the year? Time will tell.
